Editorial Policy
This policy explains how Fieldline builds and updates articles.
We treat seller and manufacturer documentation as sources, not proof of field performance.
Source use standards
- Primary inputs
- Seller listings, brand specification sheets, manuals, size charts, and posted rating standards.
- Attribution rule
- Specification values are presented as listing or manufacturer claims unless independently stated otherwise.
- Language rule
- We avoid certainty wording when evidence is limited to published specs.
Publishing steps
- Collect source specs and version dates from available listings/documents.
- Normalize units and terms for side-by-side comparison.
- Draft practical notes for trip context (weather, packed size, setup style, transport limits).
- Run human editorial review for claim wording, clarity, and prohibited claim checks.
- Publish with update notes when material changes are made.
Corrections policy
When we find a factual error, we correct it in the article text and add a brief correction note describing what changed.
If a listing changes, we may update comparisons to reflect the new published data and note that update.
